LotS: Lives of the Saints by Richard P McBrien This book places saints on days usually from Roman Catholic tradition -- the current General Roman Calendar, former versions of General Roman Calendar, the particular calendars of geographic regions and religious orders. It also lists other persons who are on the particular calendars of other Christian faith traditions -- Orthodox, Anglican and Lutheran. And it lists persons who are not on the particular calendars of any faith traditions, but who lead exemplary lives in keeping with Christian faith traditions. Note that not all traditions celebrate a certain person's life on the same day or at all.

AC.org: website that has a Saint of the Day tradition that uses several books as its basis. It places saints on days other than their feast days to fill the calendar.

ab initio

The motivation for this blog is a meditation on my current state of health in light of the prime directive of ethics -- what ought I to do.

I am doing this for pleasure and for my grandchildren. It is a matter I find of great importance.

It is an act I can do regardless of my current state of health -- up to a point.

It has roots in Lives of the Saints by Richard P McBrien.
How can I run from [my body] when it will be my companion at the resurrection? - John Climacus LotS p.148
Lord, let me live until I die ... to live, love, and serve fully until death comes.

I don't make sense of suffering; I try to make sense of life. - Thea Bowman FSPA LotS p.149
